SG Merlion

I am always amazed how this country progressed from a colonial state into one of the most developed nation in the world.

First visited here about 16 years ago, now I will come for learning purposes. See how are their urban development, the city planning, arts and creativity. I don't travel for the sake of traveling, we do really learn; Ting Yik, Ke Xin, Jin Yan right?

4 of us, after last year Taiwan trip, will be together again! So bad Minc can't join us.

Currency rate 1 SG = RM 2.35. Will be use money wise. Budget travel as a student.

I'm not rich, and thanks to parents only I managed to go different places like SG. Your investment will be high in ROI.

5.10pm flight later from Penang International, and here I come the Lion City !

EYLN 2010 & KL walk walk - Updates & Entrepreneurship 2.0

Yes I'm back at home after 6 days at KL.

Really had a blast in EYLN (Entrepreneurship - Youths A Learning Network) in UKM, Bangi. My first time to UKM and it's really large. Some more got hutan simpanan in the campus. 3 days 2 nights conferences were held in a relative new lecturer hall. The wifi speed is damn fast and I can tweet anytime!

Now I also understand why a lot of students with private transport in UKM. I should appreciate what I have in USM!

Apart from the EYLN, I memang like to jalan jalan at KL. I like everything about this city except the transport system. It's a mess!

It's my first time to be in Kajang and yes I didn't manage to try the famous satay! Arghhhhh!

Thanks to Ah Boy we stayed in his place @ Sg Besi. Also thanks to Rachel who fetched us at the Kajang bus station.

Second day kia kia at Midvalley & The Gardens. Tried Yellow Laksa @ Nyonya colour

Parit Buntar Pang Long Laksa is definitely better!

Don't try the 黑糯米& nasi rendang ayam there. Try it if you want to know why.

At night, we went to Serdang Raya for the famous Pan Mee! Yes, finally I tried it!

Yummy!

16 May early in the morning we arrived in UKM KTM station --- and here started EYLN! A really cool conference with awesome youths, respected industry leaders & great inputs.

USMers with Derek the OCP, Alia the UMers, Steve MyLDS 10's OCP, Chon Giap the King Scout from PJ

I'm so happy to have Eric, Ah Chuan, Shirley & Hui Chin with me in the conference! Wei Hong from USM also went there! Quite a surprise!

Yes, like MyLDS, in this conference we got to know lots of different people from various nations. All are awesome. We had fantastic faci & delegates from Netherlands, Singapore, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Finland and etc! See how much friends we have added in Facebook will know. LOL.

I had my earlier 20th birthday celebration with 100+ people in the house!

All the May babies were invited & this's our cake! First time to have all the delegates singing bday song to me!

Our earlier b'day cake

And also first time to have HAPPY CORNER the @iesec Culture. PAIN arrgh..

But I'm still safe. Still strong! Haha XD

After EYLN, met up with 4gu, dagu, xuannie, frauline, mee shien & jeffrey and dinner @ Soon Fatt at Sri Petaling. The crabs tasted good!

Business on sunday nite

Jalan-jalan at Sunway. And here goes Full House @ Pyramid. I like the design & atmosphere. Nice place to hand out.

Ministry of Sound aka M.O.S. besides Sunway Resort is a better place to enjoy the nite .

Random updates over the past 6 days activities and here back to the topic.

Really had an inspiring sessions with CEO of Green Packet, CC Puan; founder of Alpha Catalyst Azim Pawanchik; Financial fortress coach award winning founder Nazril Idrus; Business director of Harvestnet Nyou Wei Fung; most outstanding youth 2009 AYA Yeoh Chen Chow, Sunway group HR senior managers, co-founder of Maleki GmbH Matthias Gelber and etc.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP *******************

Yes, this's what it's all about.

Today, we are not just competing with friends in the same college or within the same borders.

The world is flat is true as ever.

We face challenges from 6 billions population worldwide. High skilled workers from the developed nations, low cost production yet relative equal efficiency from the B.R.I.C; the current financial turmoil in the P.I.G.S. ; all are inter-related to our daily lives.

Yes true I wanna be financial freedom, give a better life to my family and a positive impact to the society.

How can I do it? By doing the old way? Completing a first-class degree and work for a good company and true it's one of the ways.

But don't just limit it to yourselves. There're many opportunities out there.

Nowadays university life doesn't mean study 24/7. Gerald Lee, General Manager from Celcom Sdn Bhd, one of the speakers in EYLN agreed with this. He encourages us to exposure or explore any business opportunities during university life, maybe it be Amway (the most successful 21% MLM), insurance related works and etc.

What you learnt from there sure will help you a lot when you start up own business!

People is like that. After back from a motivation talk or a inspiring conferences, we have a lot of ideals and hot blood running over. But the most important thing is how you turn these ideals into tangible products, and make our thoughts into actions? This is the most difficult part. Many people can talk cock but can't do anything.

I like this part very well. Share here. Our life is like a pencil.

Our life is just like a Pencil. 1. GUIDANCE - We need to be guided by someone. Our bright stars. 2. BLUNT - Challenges everywhere, we need to "SHARPEN" skills every now and then. 3. HARD - hard on the outside, soft inside. 4. ERASER - We can make a difference! 4. LEAVES a MARK - Make our life counts, leave a Legacy.

I also don't know. But we keep doing things right, we can harvest the rich products.

Think of what your passion is. When you do something without getting paid but still love every bit of it, and can think of it the whole day not getting tired - that's your passion.

Always think and analyse things, how to make it better? How to make life easier? Think of things behind the purpose, not just the outer layer. For instance, when people email, people don't just send email as they want to do it, people want to communicate to others! And how can we make the process easier & better?
Do something that I HAPPY, YOU HAPPY, and MARKET HAPPY!

Tune Hotel fits the market, just well!

Sometimes what people want from a hotel just a powerful shower and a 5-star bed.

And Tune Hotel makes it with just 1-star rate.

Those who flew Air Asia sure complained of its frequent delay & poor services.

Smile only to foreigners, no food no drink.

But why people still fly it and make it the most profitable and successful low cost carrier?

Because Air Asia serves the purposes right!

CHEAP & Everybody Can Fly!

Think what Malaysia will be if without Air Asia.

Also, check this WEBSITE out. Craigslist

It's ranked 7th in US websites traffic, overtakes Twitter, Ebay, MSN etc. With just 32 staffs it made a net profit of +- USD 80 M in FY 2009.

The webpage is one of the uglist and simplest I ever come across. But this website just do things absolutely great and customers happy with it. And it makes money, I mean a lot.

Facebook, Twitter, Apple, Microsoft are just another examples. I guess you know more than me regarding these.

Life can be everything you want to be. Never succumb in the reality. Where you come from or who you are do not matter much, it's who you want to be and how you actions are the key to destiny.

The most powerful sentence in the world...

Never, never, never, ever give up - Winston Churchill -

Scholarships & Interviews & Malaysia Education Info

Hey Guys!

University intake in June is approaching. Many of you sure as excited as I was to decide for the best choice.

After SPM, I went for few scholarships interview such as JPA, TNB, Sime Darby, Asean scholarships while shortlisted for The Star & Sin Chew education funds.

Though ultimately I ended up in matriculation but still believe sometimes what life needs is luck, besides your academic qualifications. Cause this country isn't as simple as you think.

I never regret of matriculation life and it was the turning point of my life. I didn't manage to get any scholarships to go overseas. But this makes me wanted to share more with lots more bright potential students out there, such as you.

A lot of juniors are now looking for scholarships, university and courses info. Few of them wrote email to me and I wish to share here to all. Hope it helps!

Who doesn't want to study overseas?

Study abroad is just like travel, everyone wants to do it!

But in reality you face a lot of restrictions, such as financial status.

But you can really work this out by trying on scholarships.

Hereby I list down a list of very useful websites regarding OVERSEAS scholarships, How to Apply Ivy League abroad (etc), LOCAL scholarships, Education in Malaysia (Matriculation, Local University)/

*****************************************

Scholarships Centre - Most comprehensive scholarships one-stop centre (Scholarships all sorted out by date, clear and easy, local & overseas, private & government)

Dream what you can dream of.

If you have a dream, do whatever you can to chase after it, taking considerations into life reality.

There are many chances out there, you never try, never know.

Never, ever, set a limit to yourself.

When Eiffel Tower first built from 1887 to 1889, many thoughts it was impossible and would be an eyesore.

Today, it is widely considered as one of the most striking masterpieces of architecture art in the world.

If you don't paddle your own canoe, you don't move. -Katharine Hepburn

Hope this info can help a little. The rest you decide.

After all, not managed to go overseas doesn't mean that you are not good.

It's all about your thinking, how you see the world and accept the differences.

I can be reached at wilson521@gmail.com and feel free to write me anything regarding education.

Ooopsss...it''s Earthquake...Tremor...

Happieee Mother's Day and yes there was a big joke.

It's a lazy sunday, I was sitting in front of HP dv 3, watching GEE youtube and true I love their dances so much!

The sun was scorching hot and of course I sweated like hell.

All out sudden, the I felt a sense of dizziness, headache, the world was just like upside down *** exaggerated *** and I was like:" syok-lah, who asked u to sleep so late??!!"

But I felt weird...it aint't the way. I immediately stood up and I could feel the tremor. My instinct told me there must be earthquake somewhere else. This wasn't my first time!

I opened my Facebook and most Penangites and northen citizens commented...all were like suprised & shocked. Later Jacqueline told me in Twitter there's a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in northen Sumatra & Tsunami alert was activated.

Instantly searched through google news and within minutes it's the breaking news in WSJ & BBC. #earthquake top the trend in Twitter and FB status keep updated. Haha. This's why I like social media so much! Cannot imagine how world is going to be in 10 years time ! Excited!

And yes this wasn't my first time to feel the tremor. I was so lucky to be safe in a 5.5 scale earthquake. Yeah, it's earthquake not tremor.

Aun Yee, Heng How, Nathan did you still remember ???

It was back in December 2006 where I attended a student exchange program in Kaohshiung, Taiwan.

In this beautiful harbor city where 痞子英雄 was filmed

Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and host country Taiwan

SMJK Krian & Shu Te High School,
through iEARN channel (International Education and Resources Network)

We're there to present ideals how to save environment in each particular country, for us Malaysia, we talked about Sea Turtles.

Aun Yee as sea turtle, classic! This made us the one of the best presentation among all.

And it was a winter December, after all the hard works we were pampered with a nice dinner in this restaurant. And this was where unforgettable experience begun.

All of us get seated nicely & enjoying a taste of latte and pasta.

Never forgot it was 26 December, classical music in the air and my wrist watch read 850pm. I couldn't really remember the time.

Abruptly the table was like moving, shaking with a loud noise! We thought our member did it out of boredom...well...just let go...and moment later there's real trembling! The cups and plates were like shaking on its own and the glass, dim lights were hanging periculously up there. U can FEEL the world is upside down!

The next thing: RUN !!!

All of us ran out of the cafe and only to realise that it was a 5.5 magnitude earthquake stroke 100km away from our place!

Phone calls couldn't be met and there're road accidents and some fire. U could hear some screaming and people hastily ran out from the building. Panicked.

I couldn't describe the experience in words but the videos can show how's the quake.

Vestibule and my semi circular canals couldn't back to normal for the entire night.

It was a horrible, but exciting experience!

Later back to home only realised the quakes we experienced. The first one - Strike-slip, which was less mild, that's why we just felt like the table was moving.

The second one...this's one can bring real catastrophe - Thrust. We felt like the world is upside down. Cause the earth crust is moving up and down.

Earthquake can be very horrible. It's like the earth gets mad and releases sudden energy from the crust and we people suffer.

The mum cried hysterically, unable to find her kid.

I don't know whether it's a coincidence or natural course, recently natural disasters are just like everywhere.

Would it really be the effect of human negligence and ignorance towards the environment? Global warming? or 2012? I don't really know.

But what I know millions of people perished in quakes.

The recent Haiti earthquake just took estimated 250,00 lives.

No more homes. Shattered

2008 Si Chuan Earthquake.

2004 Aceh Indonesia Earthquake & Tsunami

before & after

Life is too insignificant when natural disaster hits, isn't it?

But at least we can do something to reduce the risk. Know some basic knowledge like what to do when there's earthquake like hide in the wardrobe .

We don't know what happens next, do you?

So, appreciate this moment, at least, for now.

Mum You're Simply The BEST

It's Mother's Day!

9th May 2010.

Mum brought me to this world and I thank her wholeheartedly for...everything.

Mum brought me up regardless all the circumstances and see, I'm standing here proudly as a 20 year-old potential guy.

Almost every year my mum's birthday falls in the same week as mother's day. There're few years which mother's day coincides with mum's birthday such as 10, May 2009! See how special my mum is. XD

Last year, I wasn't around in mother's day & birthday.

I was lucky enough to have a 15 days trip in Taiwan. And this was for you.
物轻情意重

I like this photo very much. 张妈妈 is my mum and she raises me up to 20 year-old. Haha. But my mum doesn't open a shop.

And I'm dedicating this post to you, mum. Even before I was born you have been bringing me up well, yes every bit of it.

Your love is the greatest love of all
